Withdrawal and Termination of Care Policy

At Newleaf Learning & Childcare Centre, we strive to maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for children, families, and staff. The following policy outlines the procedures for withdrawal from the program and circumstances under which care may be terminated.

Withdrawal by Parents or Guardians

Parents or guardians who wish to withdraw their child from the centre must provide two (2) months written notice.

The child must have completed the minimum three-month enrollment period before notice can be given in order for the deposit to be refunded or applied toward the final month’s fees, as outlined in the Fee Agreement.

If the required notice is not provided, the deposit will be forfeited, and the centre reserves the right to charge for the notice period.

Termination of Care by the Centre

Newleaf Learning & Childcare Centre reserves the right to terminate care if it determines that the program is no longer able to meet the needs of the child or if centre policies are not being followed.

Whenever possible, the centre will attempt to work collaboratively with families to resolve concerns before terminating care.

Situations that may result in termination of care include, but are not limited to:

  • Failure to comply with centre policies and procedures
  • Failure to pay fees on time
  • Repeated late pick-ups
  • Failure to provide required documentation or information
  • Behaviour from a child that consistently disrupts the program despite efforts to support the child

Immediate Termination of Care

In certain circumstances, the centre may terminate care immediately without notice in order to ensure the safety and well-being of children and staff.

Immediate termination may occur if:

  • A child’s behaviour poses an immediate danger to themselves, other children, or staff.
  • A parent, guardian, or family member behaves in a verbally abusive, threatening, aggressive, or disrespectful manner toward staff or other families.
  • A parent or guardian acts in a way that compromises the safety or well-being of children or staff at the centre.
  • A parent repeatedly disregards the centre’s safety policies or procedures.

In these situations, the centre reserves the right to terminate care immediately to maintain a safe and respectful environment.

Centre-Initiated Termination

If the centre decides to terminate care (except in cases of immediate termination due to safety concerns), reasonable notice may be provided when possible.

Any applicable deposit or prepaid fees will be handled in accordance with the Fee Agreement.

At Newleaf Learning & Childcare Centre, our goal is to work in partnership with families to create a positive experience for every child. These policies are in place to ensure that our centre remains a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for everyone in our community.
