Incident Reporting Policy

At Newleaf Learning & Childcare Centre, the safety and well-being of every child is our highest priority. In the event of an incident, staff respond promptly and follow established procedures to ensure that children receive appropriate care and that families are informed.

All educators at the centre are trained in first aid and CPR, and will provide appropriate first aid care whenever necessary.

Reportable Incidents

If a reportable incident occurs at the centre, staff will complete a Reportable Incident Form as required by Fraser Health and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR). The completed report will be submitted to the licensing office within 24 hours.

Definitions of reportable incidents are outlined in Schedule H of the Child Care Licensing Regulations.

Serious Injuries

If a child experiences a more serious injury, such as:

  • A head injury
  • An injury that breaks the skin
  • Any injury that may require medical attention

Parents or guardians will be notified immediately. If necessary, emergency medical services (ambulance) will be contacted to ensure the child receives prompt medical care.

Minor Injuries

Minor injuries that do not require medical attention, such as small bumps or minor scrapes, will be documented by staff and recorded in the centre’s communication log or incident record.

Parents or guardians will be informed of these incidents at the end of the day during pick-up so they remain aware of any events that occurred while their child was in care.

At Newleaf Learning & Childcare Centre, we are committed to maintaining a safe environment and ensuring that families are promptly informed and involved whenever incidents occur.
