Social Media and Technology Policy

At Newleaf Learning & Childcare Centre, we value respectful communication, privacy, and a positive community environment for children, families, and educators. This policy is designed to protect the privacy, safety, and reputation of all individuals within our centre.

Privacy and Photography

To protect the privacy of all children and families, parents and visitors are not permitted to photograph or record other children while at the centre during drop-off, pick-up, or centre events.

Photos or videos should only be taken of your own child, and only when it does not include other children, families, or staff members in the background.

The centre may occasionally take photographs of children participating in activities for documentation, learning portfolios, or centre communication. Written consent will be obtained from parents for the use of any images.

Social Media and Online Communication

We encourage open and respectful communication between families and the centre. Concerns or questions should always be directed to the centre management or educators directly, where they can be addressed appropriately and promptly.

To protect the privacy and reputation of the centre community:

  • Parents and guardians are asked not to post negative comments, complaints, or concerns about the centre, staff, or other families on social media platforms, online forums, or messaging groups.
  • Parents should not create or participate in online groups that discuss or share information about the centre, staff, or other families without consent.
  • Any concerns regarding the program, staff, or centre policies should be communicated directly with the centre director or management team so that they can be resolved respectfully and effectively.

Respectful Use of Technology

Parents and visitors are asked to be mindful of technology use while at the centre. To maintain a safe and welcoming environment:

  • Mobile phones should be used respectfully and briefly during drop-off and pick-up.
  • Phone calls should be taken outside the classroom whenever possible.
  • Devices should not be used in a way that disrupts classroom activities or compromises the privacy of children and staff.

Protecting Our Community

The goal of this policy is to maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment for everyone in the Newleaf community. We believe that respectful communication and responsible technology use help protect the well-being and privacy of all children, families, and educators.

If families have concerns or feedback, we strongly encourage direct communication with the centre, where we are always happy to listen and work collaboratively toward solutions.
