Clothing and Personal Belongings Policy
At Newleaf Learning & Childcare Centre, children participate in a variety of activities throughout the day, including art, sensory play, outdoor exploration, and physical movement. For this reason, children should arrive at the centre wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that allows them to participate safely and freely in all activities.
Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring that children have appropriate clothing for the weather, including items such as jackets, rain gear, boots, hats, mittens, or snow suits when required.
Labeling Personal Items
To help prevent items from being misplaced or lost, all personal belongings should be clearly labeled with the child’s name. This includes:
- Jackets and outerwear
- Shoes and boots
- Hats and mittens
- Extra clothing
- Blankets or comfort items
- Water bottles and lunch containers
If items arrive at the centre without a label, staff may label the items to help identify the child’s belongings.
Extra Clothing
Parents are asked to provide a complete change of clothing for their child, including socks and underwear, in case of spills, accidents, or outdoor play.
Personal Items from Home
Children may bring comfort items such as a small blanket or soft toy for rest time if needed. However, families are encouraged to limit valuable or special toys from home as the centre cannot guarantee responsibility for lost or damaged items.
At Newleaf Learning & Childcare Centre, these guidelines help ensure that children remain comfortable, prepared for all activities, and that personal belongings can be easily identified.
